Peter Superti combines the technical skills of European furniture making with a modern and innovative approach to design.
Peter Superti was born in Queens, New York in 1953. He has been designing and making furniture for over 25 years. In 1975 while living in Vermont he attended the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina where he did a studio workshop with Alfonse Mattia. He then studied with the British furniture maker David Powell in Hatfield, Ma. From that apprenticeship Superti was accepted into the Boston University Program in Artisanry with Jere Osgood and Alfonse Mattia; a four year degree program in wood, metals, textiles and ceramics. He was elected by his professors and peers to represent Boston University at the World Craft Council in Vienna, Austria in 1981. This prestigious honor allowed him to further explore traditional techniques of European and Scandinavian furniture making, and design, which he than began to apply to a more 20th century modernist vocabulary. He has exhibited in many galleries in New York, Philadelphia and Boston. He has collected a long list of knowledgeable and discriminating clients over the past twenty-five years, a few of which are listed below.
